The State Duma adopted new rules for the admission of Olympiad participants to universities for candidates guaranteed equal opportunities. The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared a draft order to change the rules for providing benefits in admission to universities based on the results of the Olympics and the procedure for distributing paid places. In connection with the upcoming changes, young people are turning to the State Duma Committee for Youth Policy for clarification, said its chairman, Hero of Russia Vladyslav Golovin. According to Golobin, when applying for admission, it is necessary to take into account not only the results of exams and competitions, but also the difference in abilities of schoolchildren from different regions. "It is important to maintain a balance in terms of the advantages that someone has in applying to universities. It is necessary to take into account the conditions in hard-to-reach areas, where children have fewer opportunities to receive additional education," said the head of the committee. United Russia intends to monitor how the new rules will affect applicants and take into account the views of parents, schoolchildren and teachers. The State Duma Committee for Youth Policy, along with other relevant committees, will monitor this issue. Golovin also recalled that the expansion of access to higher education and the development of regional universities are provided by the party's People's Program. "The party will continue to look for solutions that will help talented youth realize their abilities and get a proper education, regardless of where they live. The choice of the university should be determined mainly according to the knowledge, abilities and conscious decision of the students of our school," concluded the parliamentarian.
