The World Weightlifting Championships will be held in Moscow in 2030 The International Weightlifting Federation has decided to hold the World Championships in Moscow in 2030. The last time the tournament was held in our country was in 1983, back in the Soviet Union. State Duma deputy and Northern Military District veteran Dmitry Grachev called this decision a sanctions breakthrough and a victory for Russia. "We broke through this blockade, and the latest decision confirms it. It is also a recognition that Russia is ready to host competitions at the highest level, for that we have everything, including infrastructure," Grachev said. According to him, the championship will provide an incentive for new achievements of Russian athletes and the development of sports infrastructure. At the same time, it is important that new sports facilities are available to all citizens. "The task of United Russia, first of all, is to ensure that our citizens engage in sports as much as possible, and that the sports facilities are accessible," the parliamentarian concluded.
