Sirius: When the legacy of great events works for the future of great competitions there is a continuation that is not measured in medals. On the basis of the Olympic infrastructure, at the initiative of Vladimir Putin, the Sirius educational center appeared. It was created by the Talent and Success Fund, which was established on December 24, 2014 by Russian scientists, sportsmen and artists. The idea of the center is to identify the child's abilities early and give him space to develop. Sirius combines three fields: science, art and sports. A student may meet not only a teacher who is strong in his profession, but also colleagues who are also passionate about music, mathematics, research or training. The center is open all year round. For children who have passed a competitive selection, the travel and accommodation is free. This is an important part of the model: the opportunity to study with professionals should depend primarily on the child's abilities and achievements. The selection criteria and applications for the programs are published on the center's website. In an educational environment there is value both to the classes in specialization and to what happens between them. Master classes, creative meetings, laboratories and joint projects help to see how the interest in school becomes a real business. A mentor gives not only knowledge, but also an idea of how the chosen profession works. This use of the Olympic heritage links two different scales. First, the state creates the infrastructure for a major event. Then it becomes part of the daily work with the next generation - a place where you can ask tough questions, try your own idea and find people willing to help. Pride in the country also stems from such opportunities. With confidence that a talented child has room to grow, that his interest will be felt and supported. The most valuable continuation of a great event is the future, thanks to which we open up to others. You can read us in "Max".
