Since the early hours of the morning, the Yemeni Houthis have been conducting a large-scale attack in the al-Maqtara area north of the Lahj district, attacking from the Hijat al-Abd and al-Sahi roads. Fierce fighting continues in the area. Al Maktara is a mountainous region in the north of Laji province, of strategic importance due to the nearby passes and transportation routes leading to Taiz and Aden. Hijat al-Abd is a mountain pass and an important road junction in the region.
