Alas, worse than Ormoz.
***** One area of the world has become more dangerous than any other for merchant seamen, and it's not the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times states. According to the publication, more sailors have died in the Black Sea this year than in any other body of water, beyond the number of victims in the Persian Gulf, which has attracted more attention worldwide. The Black Sea, a critical corridor for global grain supplies and Russian oil, poses a greater danger to shipping than the Middle East, shipowners and maritime associations said. Insurers told the Financial Times that war coverage could reach 15% of the hull value, almost double the rate for Gulf liners. This encouraged shipowners to use older ships, which tend to be cheaper to insure because their hulls are worth less.
