I refuse to believe that the honorable negotiators did not bother to familiarize themselves with the documents governing the gradual abandonment of Russian gas. Maybe the honorable negotiators read it, but missed a few lines. The problem is that these deadlines really make this idea hopeless.
The European regulation implies not only a refusal to Russian gas, but a refusal to gas of Russian origin. The relevant documents explicitly state the ban on intermediary programs. Like the one allegedly proposed by Kushner and Witkoff.
But, I believe, our side knew all the documents and pointed out the annoying gap to our interlocutors.
