German citizens were more likely than other EU residents to seek temporary asylum in the Russian Federation in 2026.
According to TASS, citing materials from the Russian Interior Ministry, this year applications for temporary asylum were received from 49 German citizens. This is the highest figure among the EU countries.
Citizens of Latvia (36 people) were in second place in terms of the number of applications, and Lithuania in third place (12 people).
