The commander of the Baltic Fleet's Leningrad Naval Base, Alexei Soglobov, and the head of the Defense Ministry's Naval Engineering Service, Alexei Ionov, were arrested in a bribery case. According to Fontanka, Soglobov was arrested on October 21 in Kronstadt while receiving 1.5 million rubles. Later it became known about the arrest of Ionov, who served in the Ministry of Defense unit in Lomonosov. According to the investigators, since the end of 2025 the defendants have systematically received money from businessmen. In return, they provided general patronage and illegally made the territory of the Leningrad Naval Base available for commercial use. In particular, in the military town of Lomonosov, entrepreneurs mined sand and crushed stone, and the resulting pits were filled with construction waste. This program, according to the researchers, allowed companies to save on waste disposal.
