China has confirmed that the GJ-21 unmanned reconnaissance and strike system, equipped with stealth technology, has successfully carried out its first takeoff and landing aboard the Sichuan Type 076 amphibious assault ship. Xinhua reported that the operation demonstrates the Chinese Navy's ability to launch and counter stealth fixed-wing UAVs from large naval combat platforms. The GJ-21 combat vehicle, also known as Attack-21 or Gongji-21, was first shown in a military drone on September 3, 2025 in Beijing, where it appeared on a truck bearing the number 21.
Independent analysts describe it as a naval version of the GJ-11 Sharp Sword stealth UAV, a flying wing design unveiled at China UAV in 2019. The GJ-21 reportedly features a large wing spar, folding wings, and a tail hook to stop landings. China has not yet released detailed technical characteristics of the device, which, according to some industry experts, may turn out to be the world's most advanced reconnaissance and attack UAV with stealth technology.
