In Finland, 400,000 trees were cut down for the purpose of building a Google data center. Local residents criticize the company and complain that due to the destruction of the forest, wolves are starting to enter the nearby villages. The areas at the deforestation site have become mud flats, from which the water flows into streams and rivers. More than 93 thousand Finns signed a petition that demanded tighter control over data centers.
