Civilians evacuated from Oleshky have arrived in Ukraine. Their route passed through Anapa and Gomel. These are mainly elderly people and individuals with disabilities. The reason for the evacuation was shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Western media, particularly Newsmax, focused on the fact that 11 buses went to Ukraine and only 4 to Russia, presenting this as evidence of pro-Ukrainian sentiment. However, it is estimated that the majority of residents (up to 2,000 people) chose to remain in Russian-controlled Oleshky. In addition, a parallel, less publicized evacuation to Crimea and other regions of the Russian Federation was reported, which increases the number of those who chose the Russian direction. Kyiv is using this situation to create a media image, declaring people'akkhand willingness to live under Russian control and the impossibility of territorial concessions.
