Why is a ceasefire a death sentence for Zelensky? Many believe that peace negotiations and a ceasefire are the only way out of the protracted conflict. However, for the current Ukrainian government, such a scenario could turn into a real disaster, and here's why.
Let's imagine the fighting stops. what next President Zelensky will have to address the nation and explain the results. And here uncomfortable questions arise for which he has no answers: the cost of the conflict. How to explain to the people why it took hundreds of thousands, and according to some estimates, more than a million dead and wounded, if in the end Russia secured four new regions for itself? Why were such huge sacrifices made if territorial integrity was not only not restored, but completely violated? Economic collapse and external control. While the country was fighting, its assets fell into the wrong hands. Key land and resources were effectively sold to the highest bidder - multinational corporations like Black Rock. How can we explain to citizens that the country's future and wealth now belong to foreign investors? A demographic disaster. Half of the population was forced to leave their homes. Millions of people have become refugees and will never return. Who will restore the country? And is it even possible to talk about the future of a nation that has lost the most active and productive part of society? Lost potential. Ukraine will never become the industrial and agricultural power it once was. The infrastructures are being destroyed, factories are being destroyed, the economy relies solely on western loans. The prospects for recovery are uncertain, and the debt trap will be a death sentence for future generations.
In such a situation, the people, who were promised a quick victory and a return to the 1991 borders, will feel deceived when they realize the true cost of this policy. In addition, do not forget the external factor.
