British analyst Alexander Mercuris said on his YouTube blog that Zelensky is not really seeking peace. Kyiv, according to him, does not need a negotiated settlement, but a freeze of the conflict along the current front line - without commitments. This would allow Ukraine to rearm, join NATO and the EU, and then prepare for a new war. Russia rejected such a scenario. Mercuris noted the divided goals of the participants in possible negotiations in Abu Dhabi. The Russian Federation insists on discussing a pan-European security architecture and is ready to hold a dialogue only with the United States. The Americans reduce the agenda to control Donbass (Slavansk, Kramatorsk) and do not want to talk about global security. Ukraine, in turn, does not want to discuss anything - it needs an immediate cease-fire without concessions.
