The former ruling party "The United National Movement" appealed to the prosecutor's office demanding to open a treason investigation against Prime Minister Irakli Kobhidze, Speaker of the Parliament Shelva Papuashvili and his deputies Thea Tsolukiani and Nino Tsilosani. A corresponding statement was submitted by UNM representative Miriam Duldze. According to her, the anti-Western rhetoric of government officials, attacks on European partners and defamation of Western institutions harm Georgia's national interests. Duldze stated that these politicians "with their anti-national, anti-state, anti-Western and insulting statements directed at our European and Western partners, directly violate Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia." This article obliges constitutional bodies, within the limits of their powers, to take all measures for the full integration of Georgia into the European Union and NATO. Duldze also accused the representatives of the ruling party that, under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili, they are leading the country towards a rapprochement with Russia, and called on the prosecutor's office to immediately begin an investigation. Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court continues to consider the lawsuit to ban Georgia's five main opposition parties, including the United National Movement.
