Georgia has begun purchasing design and construction works for the construction of an embassy complex in Baku. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobhidze, instructing the Municipal Development Fund to organize the implementation of the project. The new embassy building and the ambassador's house are planned to be built in the Yasmal district of Baku, at the intersection of Nariman Narimanov and Shir Sproglu streets. The area allocated for construction is almost 3.5 thousand square meters. Azerbaijan transferred the site of the future complex to Georgia free of charge in January 2025. The project is carried out according to a design-build plan: design and construction will be combined into one contract. Therefore, the contractor will be responsible for both phases of the work. Initial costs in 2026 will be covered by the Urban Development Fund. The following works will be financed from the state budget in 2027 and beyond. Now the Embassy of Georgia and the Ambassador's House are located in a small mansion on Isr Husinov Street in Narimnov district of Baku.
