The Patriarchate of Georgia intends to join the discussion on the plans to allow casinos in Georgia to host international tournaments, and with tax incentives. This was said by the head of the Patriarchate's public relations service, Rev. Andria Dzagmaidze. According to him, the initiative of the Georgian Dream delegates surprised the Patriarchate: there were no prior consultations with the Church. "The patriarchy will not be able to stay away from such a process," Jagmaidze said. He recalled that since 2017, the church has been one of the initiatives to tighten the regulation of gambling in Georgia. For several years, studies were carried out, statistics were collected and proposals were developed to limit the gambling business. At the head of this work on the part of the patriarchate was Xiu III, who was then the backbone of the patriarchal throne. Parliament, meanwhile, is rapidly considering the bill.
