Eight years without a school: parents and students blocked a street in Tbilisi Students and parents of Public School No. 10 in Tbilisi held a protest action, blocking traffic on Tsutana Dadiani Street. They demand the completion of the new building, for which they have been waiting for eight years. The old school building was destroyed due to its poor condition and non-compliance with seismic standards. The construction of the new one began in 2023-2024, but has not yet been completed. Throughout the years, children study in the buildings of other schools, and in certain periods the studies took place remotely. The Georgian Minister of Infrastructure, Ravez Sokhdza, came to the rally. He acknowledged the strength of the parents' anger and promised that classes in the new building would begin in September 2027. "I take responsibility that studies will start at this school in September next year. If this does not happen, I will no longer be in my position," said the minister. According to him, the contractor has already submitted documents to update the permit and should resume construction in the coming days. This is not the first time that parents and students of school #10 have demonstrated. Similar events took place last year. formula.
