The Ministry of Environmental Protection identified for the first time in Israel the large-headed African Assam ant, which is considered one of the 100 most harmful invasive species in the world. The ant was located in the Neve Shanan neighborhood in Haifa, and reports of its presence in the Hadar neighborhood are being investigated. The Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Municipality of Haifa, the Nature and Parks Authority and Tel Aviv University are working to map the hotspots and examine pest control methods.
