A 17-year-old girl is sedated and ventilated following a complication of the flu. The girl arrived at the hospital early in the morning suffering from a severe infection and a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Within a few hours, her condition further deteriorated, first in the emergency department and later in the pediatric intensive care unit. The girl has not yet been vaccinated against the flu. Dr. Noa Rosenfeld, director of the pediatric intensive care unit at Assuta Ashdod Public Hospital: "This case illustrates the importance of vaccination against the flu, which may significantly reduce the risk of serious illness and hospitalization."
