The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka announced that it managed to evacuate 40 Iranian sailors who were on a ship off the coast of the island, which could not return to Iran due to the naval blockade of the US military. The announcement stated that the 40 sailors were evacuated "due to a medical condition", but it was claimed that Sri Lanka "continues to act neutrally".
