German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz commented on the arrest of a suspect of spying for Russia, saying that this does not surprise him and that more cases are expected in the future: "Germany is a target for intensive espionage activity. We should not delude ourselves. The activity of the Russian intelligence services in Germany remains at a consistently high level."
