Widespread disruptions have been recorded in North Korea's internet infrastructure since Tuesday, and dozens of official websites in the country cannot be accessed. Among other things, access to the websites of the state media, the official news agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was compromised. According to network monitoring data, the disruptions continue even now, but it is still unclear whether they originate from a technical fault or a cyber attack. Unlike other countries, most North Korean citizens are not connected to the global Internet, but to an internal and controlled network. Therefore, the disruptions are expected to mainly affect government institutions, foreign trade entities and international communication systems. At the moment there is no evidence that the state's internal communication networks or the army's systems have been compromised.
