The Haifa municipality summoned the managements of Bezan, Gadiv and Carmel Olfins for a hearing in preparation for the possibility of stopping the operations of the factories and not renewing their operating permits, following the benzene anomalies and the pollution that led to the closing of two schools in Kiryat Ata. The hearing will take place next Sunday. The municipality stated that the temporary permits are expected to expire on October 31, and that issuing an administrative stop order or going to court is also being considered. Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav said that the municipality will use every legal authority to protect the health of the residents.
