The IDF commented on the incident and claimed that "in view of the security risk involved in holding a gathering without prior coordination near an Israeli settlement, the IDF forces, the IOSh Police Force and the Shi'i district policemen jumped to the spot and detained those present. It was made clear to the owner of the land that he must coordinate the harvest in his plot, and he was given the means of communication to coordinate a harvest in the future."
