Referring to her participation in the flotilla to Gaza at the end of 2025, Kolao wrote: "The same person who decides the fate of the citizens of Puerto Rico without respecting their sovereignty, also forbids any of us who risked our lives in the flotilla to travel there." She requested an appointment at the United States Embassy in Madrid in an attempt to appeal the decision. According to her, during the meeting she was only asked about her part in the flotilla to Gaza. She concluded by saying that it was a "disgrace".
