A report in the Wall Street Journal: US intelligence agencies estimate that Russia's failed operation to attack cargo planes using drones at Leipzig-Halle airport in Germany in August was the opening shot in an extended campaign of sabotage and covert activity against NATO countries, which was directly ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. After the failure of the attack, an official in the Kremlin, who served as a secret communication channel with the German government, contacted his counterpart in Berlin. The warning he gave was clear and sharp - Leipzig would not be the last attack.
