The Bank of Israel's response to the words of the Director of the Tax Authority Shay Aharonovitch: "The Bank of Israel deems it appropriate to bring to the public's attention that the authority to cancel bank notes according to law rests with the Governor of the Bank of Israel. So far, the Governor has not been presented with a professional basis justifying the cancellation of one or another bill. In no country in the world has cash been completely abolished. Therefore, the governor of the Bank of Israel does not intend to exercise his authority and act to cancel any note or to change the mix of notes in circulation."
