Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, delivered a speech before parliamentary heads in Rome, during a discussion within the Council of Europe that has dealt repeatedly with Israel and the Middle East conflict. The speech was received with applause from the audience in the hall, and the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Petra Baiter from Austria, thanked him in Hebrew. In his speech Ohana said: "Israel is not committing genocide - enough with this vile lie! Israel is fighting genocide; on October 7 there was no \"agbi damage\", innocent civilians men, women, children and even infants – were not caught in crossfire. They were the targets".
