Netflix today started an extensive wave of layoffs in which it cuts about 6% of its workforce (about 1,000 jobs) worldwide. Among the affected departments are the product, technology, legal and human resources teams. The streaming giant's biggest layoff move in the last four years was expected, against the backdrop of a slowdown in the company's growth and increased competition.
