The team will be headed by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. The team was established against the backdrop of growing concerns about the impact of technology, including job losses, cyber attacks, the use of AI as a weapon, and even scenarios of a threat to humanity. Clayton said the goal is to ensure the U.S. remains the leader in "superintelligence" while protecting the interests of the American public.
