Later in his speech, Millay referred to the conflict over the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands and warned that Buenos Aires would change its approach: "We will not remain indifferent to those who exploit resources under illegal foreign occupation. Argentina will not sit idly by and wait for the UN to fulfill its mandate - we will take matters into our own hands."
