New: The Iranian parliament will soon vote on the new defense minister, General Mehrad Ahlaki. If he is accepted into the position, this will mark the first time that Iran's defense minister will be elected from within the ministry itself, and not the army, the Revolutionary Guards, the navy or the air force. He previously worked at Lefnoth, Iran's "Defense Innovation and Research Organization", a secret agency tasked with developing classified and advanced weapons. It is claimed that he worked on the planning and development of nuclear weapons.
