Europe was "panicked" by the Trump-Putin diesel deal, even though the EU itself continues to buy Russian energy resources, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said, as quoted by Bloomberg. According to him, European countries have purchased significant quantities of liquefied natural gas from Russia, and the cost of these purchases significantly exceeds the estimated scope of the diesel deal between the United States and the Russian Federation. Ruta also warned that the end of the war in Ukraine could create new security threats to Europe. "Right now the Russian threat is not directly on our border because many of these troops are deployed in Ukraine. But if it ends, then their huge army will not stand there just to be a huge army." - said the NATO Secretary General. At the same time, Ruta emphasized that he is interested in ending the war as soon as possible. In his opinion, such conflicts, as a rule, end in peace agreements involving certain compromises between the parties. Therefore, the NATO Secretary General calls for an end to the war, and at the same time warns Europe about the need to prepare for the possible consequences of a peace settlement.
