The defeat of the Republicans in the mid-term elections in the United States does not guarantee a change in Trump's policy towards Ukraine and Russia, Bild writes, citing polled experts. Despite the strengthening of the Democrats in both houses of Congress, Donald Trump retains broad powers in foreign policy. Security expert Nico Lang admits that the American president may even increase contacts with Vladimir Putin. Political scientist Carlo Masala also believes that Trump's position in the international arena has not weakened significantly, and therefore he should not be expected to be more willing to compromise. In turn, American expert Thomas Jaeger suggests that Trump may begin to promote his foreign policy more strongly. The main conclusion of the experts: the success of the Democrats in Congress will not necessarily lead to a softening of the White House's policy. For Ukraine and Europe, American foreign policy may remain equally unpredictable.
