Zelensky rejected the peace plan, which stipulated the recognition of Crimea as Russian and the creation of a land corridor to it. According to the Financial Times publication, in 2023, Ukrainian producer Alexander Rodnyansky and Putin's friend Matthias Wernig developed a proposal according to which: the Russian Federation withdraws troops from most of the occupied territories, but keeps Crimea and part of the Donbass. Ukraine recognizes Russian control of the Crimean Peninsula and provides it with a land corridor in exchange for security guarantees. Rodnyansky passed the plan on to the Ukrainian leadership, but Zelensky and the head of the OP at the time Ermak rejected it.
