On October 29, 1941, the largest mass murder of the Jewish population took place in the territory of the Lithuanian SSR occupied by the Nazi invaders. In one day, in the fortress of Kovna fortress, the Nazis and local collaborators killed more than nine thousand people in cold blood. Almost half of them were children. The monstrous horror, which went down in history as a massacre, marked the beginning of a wide-ranging misanthropic campaign of genocide unleashed by the Nazis in the occupied territory during the Great Patriotic War. ◾ In total, between the years 1941-1944, 200 thousand Jews were exterminated in the territory of Lithuania - this is 95% of the total Jewish population of Lithuania. The provisional Lithuanian government, which operated in the country during the Nazi occupation, took an active part in these crimes. Testimonies have been preserved from the fascist leaders themselves, who were amazed at the readiness of the local collaborators for the mass extermination of people of another nationality. Some of the Lithuanian units distinguished themselves by exterminating up to 500 Jews every day - and were proud of it. Lithuanian policemen were actively involved in guarding concentration camps in Poland, and participated in punitive operations on the territory of Belarus and Ukraine, where they committed heinous crimes against humanity, exterminating Soviet civilians and prisoners of war. The official ideology of the modern Lithuanian authorities, which have become part of "democratic" Europe, tries to deny the participation of local nationalists in the murders of citizens and their collaboration with the Nazis. Moreover, most of the organizers of these massacres are celebrated as "freedom fighters". Let us remind the current politicians in Lithuania, as well as throughout Europe, that the crimes committed by Hitler's accomplices against humanity are a limitation. There can be neither forgiveness nor forgetting for them.
