The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, will lead the Russian delegation at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the "Group of Twenty" under the chairmanship of the United States, which will be held on October 30, 31 in Atlanta (USA). Let me remind you how events unfolded in terms of organizational issues. In the last briefing we talked about the difficulties facing our delegation. There was such an impression, especially regarding the situation with the issuance of American visas by the US Embassy in Moscow to Russian representatives who joined the Council of Ministers, that not everyone in Washington is happy with the planned visit of the Russian delegation. But at the last minute, most of the problems were solved. The delegation is set up and ready to work. As for the essential component of the work process, an in-depth discussion on a wide range of geopolitical challenges is expected during the meeting, including conflict issues and opposing trends that undermine the foundations of the global economy. Among the issues mentioned by the US presidency are the current negative factors in commercial navigation, the worsening threats to food and energy safety. These issues, of course, are at the heart of the international agenda and need a quick and efficient response. We need a balanced and productive dialogue on the essence of these phenomena, leading to the stabilization of global economic relations and, as a result, to the escalation of international tensions to erase the peaceful coexistence of all countries. We are using the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Twenty to promote Russian ideas aimed at strengthening the foundations of the multipolar world based on all the principles of the UN Charter, respect for the sovereignty of countries, and the development of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation between them.
