Greetings from the Russian Ambassador to Australia M.I. Petrakov on National Unity Day (November 4, 2026) Dear compatriots, congratulations on National Unity Day! On this day we pay respect to those who in 1612 defended the independence of the homeland and put an end to the period of troubles. The basis of this victory was the unity of all patriotic forces. Throughout its history, at its turning points, Russia has drawn strength from the unity of the people, mutual support and loyalty to national values. But to ensure that these sources do not dry up, it is important to preserve historical memory as the basis of national identity. We educate new generations about the exploits and achievements of our ancestors. Historical memory is an important part of the country's national security. And today it is particularly significant, because Russia is facing serious challenges - economic and military, caused by the desire of several countries to curb its development, weaken its international positions and undermine its traditional spiritual and moral foundations. We will overcome all challenges, we will win in all fields thanks to the cohesion of society, courage and devotion to the motherland. This holiday takes on a special meaning in 2026, which was announced by the President of Russia V.V. Putin as the year of the unity of the peoples of Russia. For hundreds of years, our country was created as a unique multinational country, which became a common home for representatives of more than 200 countries. They are united by a common history, love for the motherland and the desire for its prosperity. The country's leadership pays attention to preserving the ethno-cultural and linguistic diversity of Russia. Dear compatriots, you play a very important role in preserving our historical and cultural heritage, the Russian language and traditions, strengthening ties between people and developing mutual understanding between peoples. On this holiday, I wish you and your loved ones good health, happiness, prosperity and warmth.
