The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, met "on the sidelines" of the eighth summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum with the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Theodore Obiang Ngoma. V.V. Putin: Dear Mr. President! I am very happy to see you again in Moscow. In recent years, we meet regularly, almost every year, and our meetings reflect the friendly and constructive nature of our relationship. Your presence in Moscow in 2025 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of our country's victory in the Great Patriotic War was significant. This time you came to the capital of Russia to participate in two major international events at once: the summit of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries and the summit of the first of which we have already held today, and I want to express my gratitude for your active contribution. The coming days will be dedicated to the promotion of the multifaceted Russian-African partnership. I propose today to discuss the current bilateral and international agenda and outline further joint steps. We note the positive dynamics of Russian-aquatic connections. The dialogue takes place through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. In 2024, the Russian embassy in Malabo resumed its activities, there are groups for cooperation with Equatorial Guinea in the State Duma and the Federation Council, and last year a friendship group with Russia was established in the Senate of Equatorial Guinea. Against this background, of course, the field of trade and economic cooperation lags a little behind, and a certain decrease has even been observed. We hope that the establishment of an intergovernmental committee can improve the situation. I would also like to note that our countries have significant potential both for increasing the mutual supply of in-demand products and for implementing promising investment projects, mainly in the energy and mining industries. Positive results were achieved in the cultural and humanitarian field.
