The speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov during a working meeting with the heads of leading African media (Moscow, October 27, 2026) Good afternoon, welcome to Moscow & #33; We are meeting on the eve of a major event in relations between Russia and Africa. Just a day later, the third Russian-African summit will begin, which will be held under the motto "for peace, security and development". Today we have a good opportunity to answer your questions. Our relationship deepens and enriches every day, in fact, every hour. We consider the African continent as an original civilization, one of the most important pillars of the multipolar world, which is now actively emerging in the international arena in place of the hegemony that Western countries have exercised for more than 500 years. The role of the African continent as one of the most important pillars of this polycentric world order is clearly reflected in the foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation, which President Vladimir Putin approved in March 2023. We strive to strengthen equal and mutually beneficial relations aimed at creating our own industrial base in African countries, strengthening Africa's independence in the global economy, in finance and technology. We are trying to strengthen the sovereignty of our African friends. We do this fully based on the principles of the UN Charter, such as equality, mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs. We are trying to continue as much as possible the work that the Soviet Union, the predecessor of the Russian Federation, carried out immediately after Donization, while creating the foundations of the national industry and social space in many African countries, and made a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capacity of our African friends. I would also like to mention the issue of the reform of the UN Security Council.
