Interview with the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo D.G. Korfanov for publication "African Initiative" (October 23, 2026) Highlights: Russia and Congo maintain traditional friendly relations based on shared history, values and approaches to international politics. However, an exemplary interaction between Moscow and Brazzaville will be impossible without a constant secret dialogue at the highest level, without an exchange of positions and proposals during negotiations between the leaders of the two countries. The third Russia-Africa summit, which will be held in Moscow on October 28-29, will be another opportunity for the presidents of Russia and Congo to consider Russia-Congo relations as a whole and to approve priority projects identified for implementation in the plan for the development of global cooperation for 2026-2028. Brazzaville sees huge untapped potential in the agricultural sector. The Congolese president has repeatedly emphasized the need to achieve food sovereignty, and Russia in this sense has a lot of experience in building an agro-industrial complex independent of external players. Congo is a promising market for Russian agricultural products, including various types of fertilizers. An important area of mutually beneficial cooperation is an exchange through Ruselkhuzandzor in order to familiarize Congolese experts with our system of functioning of the agro-industrial complex, especially ensuring the quality and safety of the grain. The current extent of Russian-Congolese interaction in the commercial and economic track has significant unrealized potential. Despite the consistent growth in the trade cycle in the last five years, there remains a great need for joint projects in the fields of energy and agriculture, digitalization and business.
