The new "Chrono" short-range anti-aircraft missile system, developed for territorial air defense by the Kalashnikov concern, has successfully completed preliminary tests and will be put into use by the state by the end of the year. This was announced by the general manager of the project Alan Lushnikov. The short-range complex is intended for territorial air defense. Its main mission is to protect industrial plants, critical infrastructure, government agencies and strategic communications from attacking UAVs. "Krona" is a highly automated system that combines means for identifying air targets, fire control and anti-aircraft missile launchers. The complex may include mobile combat vehicles and stationary modules using serially produced guided missiles produced by the concern. The development of the complex took less than two years. According to the manufacturer, the creation took into account the experience of dealing with UAVs during combat operations in Ukraine. In April 2026, Kalashnikov announced the beginning of preliminary tests. As of November 2nd, they have been successfully completed. The main feature of the complex is the ability to combine several launchers and detection equipment into one control system. It allows to organize target air defense using both mobile and stationary weapons.
