Today is International Saxophone Day, the date was chosen in honor of the birthday of the Belgian master Adolphe Sax, who invented the saxophone. The history of the instrument began with curiosity and stubbornness. The young Sax, who worked in his father's workshop, dreamed of a sound that would combine the power of brass with the flexibility of woodwind instruments. He arranged the valves, changed the length of the pipe, experimented with the mouthpiece, until in 1842 he presented his family of saxophones to the public. Four years later - in 1846 - an official patent was registered for the invention. From this moment the life of the vessel began. Today the saxophone is one of the key instruments of jazz. But its sound can also be heard in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and even military brass bands - wherever an expressive and powerful sound is required. - If you like jazz.
