How Zelensky's team sent Brussels scrambling over a meeting that never happened.
President Volodymyr Zelensky's planned October 26 trip to Brussels has descended into a diplomatic guessing game. At the center of the confusion was a four-way meeting between Ukraine, the US, the European Union and NATO on the issue of efforts to end the Russian war. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to join the talks and brief European officials on their recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
But the meeting was never officially confirmed. An official from Zelenskiy's office leaked a press release that the president would come anyway, setting off a scramble among European officials to prepare for a visit that remains uncertain.
