The new dispute between Poland and Ukraine is looming as local authorities move to honor the UPA military leader.
Warsaw condemned the Lviv District Council's decision to declare 2027 as the year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and its commander, Roman Shukhavych, signaling a new rift in Ukrainian-Polish relations just days after the leaders reported an improvement in relations.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry distanced itself from the regional decrees, calling them "contrary" to diplomatic efforts against the backdrop of Russia's full-scale aggression.
