Five Russian S-400 missiles hit the Ukrainian capital shortly after 10:00 p.m. local time on October 12, caused "massive explosions," reported Kyiv Independent journalists. Air raid sirens and mobile flash: s were heard only after the attack.

Zelensky described the strike as "extremely despicable", saying that Kyiv "did not receive advance warning from our partners about this strike".

His words raised questions about whether Washington had suspended intelligence assistance to Ukraine.
