Russia lost more than 50,000 troops in September, Bloomberg reports.
Russian forces suffered more than 50,000 casualties in September, including more than 28,000 Russian soldiers killed in action, a NATO official told Bloomberg on Oct. 11.
Causing heavy manpower loss has become a stated strategic goal of Ukraine. In January, then-Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Ukraine aimed to "kill 50,000 Russians a month," arguing that losses on that scale could undermine Moscow's ability to sustain the war.
