Trump's peace bet between Ukraine and Russia is starting to falter. again
US President Donald Trump's latest push for peace between Ukraine and Russia is facing growing uncertainty, with few in Kyiv believing it could lead to a breakthrough - or even bring the three sides closer to talks, the Kyiv Independent can reveal.
The latest effort began in early September, when Trump's emissaries traveled to Kiev and Moscow in search of progress ahead of the US midterm elections. The trips yielded one tangible result: an agreement in principle to hold a tripartite meeting between Ukraine, Russia and the USA.
A month later, even the tripartite meeting itself remains uncertain. Moscow has shown little urgency to commit to talks, people familiar with the negotiations said.
