The European Union's decision to pay for alleged "anti-reform" draws criticism from Ukrainian experts

A European Union decision last week to hand out funds to Ukraine in exchange for what Ukrainian experts called judicial "anti-reform" has sparked controversy.

On September 24, the Council of the European Union approved the provision of 3 billion euros as part of the Ukraine Facility loan program to Kyiv. The Kyiv Independent has requested a response from the European Commission and will publish its response as soon as it is received.

This amount includes 386.3 million euros provided in exchange for a controversial law on declarations of integrity for judges that Ukraine passed in June and was strongly criticized by legal experts.
