How a dissident poet became Ukraine's moral compass

One of the most prolific figures in Ukrainian literature, Vasyl Stoss, spent years behind bars for defending Ukrainian culture and human rights against Soviet oppression. Even in the camps he refused to compromise his integrity, repeatedly defying the camp authorities and calling them out on their cruelty.
